Bat Survey.

On 16th July a survey for bats was carried out along the brook in three sections. In order to record and identify the bats I used an Echo Meter Touch plugged into an iPad . The first section from Southbrook to Vantorts recorded Common Pipistrelle and Soprano Pipistrelle in very small numbers. The next section from Vantorts to London Road recorded Common Pipistrelle in the area of Bellmead allotments. No bats were recorded along Brook Lane as far as Chalks Farm. There was a lot of Common Pipistrelle activity in the area of the West Road play area and even as far as the arable land beyond West Road.

An interesting record was the finding of a Great Green Bush cricket along the brook adjacent to the Southbrook allotments. A sound recording was made the following evening which was submitted to iRecord and verified as such.
